Hi! I’m Alexander Ickert and you probably know me as @ickert.gp. I became a Motorsport fan in 2024 when my friend invited me to see my first live race ever at the Circuit de Catalunya in Montmeló, next to Barcelona, Spain. I took my camera for a spin with me and immediately understood that motorsport was about much more than just the cars or bikes—it was the atmosphere, the people, the speed, the smell, the noise and the stories unfolding both on and off the track. I had no expectations for the weekend but the Spanish fans gave me something to remember.

At first, it was a challenge to take great photos in Montmeló. However, the more races I visited the more I understood how to work around various obstacles and the tools required for it. Once I knew every corner by heart in Barcelona the urge developed to put my abilities through the paces at other circuits. What the vastly different circuits thaugt me is that track experience is invaluable. To capture the intricate details of these amazing athletes, their talented teams and insanely passionate fans a photographer needs to be at the right place at the right time. The step of being a fan at the outer side of the catch fence to being able telling stories from inside the garages and the grid itself is tightly connected to many track days in sunny, windy and rainy conditions.

I’m the eye and mind behind “Ickert Great Photography”. This is what the GP stands for in @ickert.gp and the magic lies in it’s simplicity. While the acronym GP can stand for many things like Gritty Photos, Grand Perspective, Genuine Pictures, Grid Productions, Grand Performance, G-Force Photography, Global Paddock, Grid Passion, Garage Perspective or even Grand Prix I believe that Great Photography is what characterizes me and my work best. I want my collaborators to focus on what they can do best while I deliver what I can do best without any compromises so we both achieve the results we are striving for.
