Moto GP Hero Walk General Guide

Moto GP Hero Walk General Guide

The following information is based on my experience during all my attended Hero Walks.

What is the Moto GP Hero Walk?

Moto GP Riders, Moto 2 Riders, Moto 3 Riders and potentially Rookies from other Supporter Series walk through a controlled area inside the circuit to meet you and other fans. You can get close to the riders to ask for autographs, take selfies, and hand them items to sign.

How does a Hero Walk usually work?

A Moto GP ticket for the specific day your Hero Walk happens in addition to a Hero Walk ticket is required. Tickets are obtained differently at discrection of each circuit. I share more detailed experiences for each track I have personally visited (here – in progress).

Where does a Hero Walk take place?

Inside the circuit. There are strictly controlled access areas and clear directions by personell. Depending on the circuit sometimes it is better explained and sometimes you need to do quite some digging to get the desired information.

What day and time does the Moto GP Hero Walk happen?

Saturday usually features Moto3™ and Moto2™ riders and rookies from other Supporter Series. On Sunday it is the turn of the MotoGP™ class riders usually after the Fan Parade. Just pay attention to the schedule in the Moto GP app and the Social Media account of the circuit.

Which Riders attend the Hero Walk?

Technically, all riders are supposed to show up during their time slot. The exception is if they are injured. There might be other reasons why a rider doesn’t show up.

How long does the Hero Walk last?

The Moto 2 Hero Walk and Moto 3 Hero Walk happen at the same time and the Riders are supposed to show their physical presence in a time window of 30 minutes. It is usally very chill and way less hectic especially if you are not focusing on local riders or the big names. The riders usually try and fulfill all the requests. The Moto GP Hero Walk is usually limited to 20 minutes max. and most riders are gone after a required attendance of 10 Minutes. It is very hectic and if you don’t get a first or second row position you might not as well go there for autographs. It is fun to see the madness from the outside but dedication and patience is required for front rows. Young kids usually have their own separated area with a higher chance of actually meeting the top riders directly.

How do I get access to the Hero Walk?

In addition to your Moto GP ticket for that specific day you also needed a Hero Walk ticket specific for that day. Each circuit has it’s own distribution system. Some circuits share it with Circuit Members only, other circuits sell it as separate ticket on a first come first serve basis and other circuits offer it as part of a specific more premium-prized ticket.

Is the Hero Walk worth it?

If you actually want a photograph with the most sought after riders like Marc Marquez you have very good chances of making your dream come true. You will have to sacrifice track action for a decent chance of a brief interaction with a rider. I highly recommend to be very early in the queue and very patient for this scenario. Even the less popular riders are highly sought after at the Moto GP Hero Walk and people are rushing towards the queue right after the circuit gates open. The Moto 2 & Moto 3 Hero Walk on the other hand is a decent experience and you have a good chance of meeting and interacting with future superstars in a genuine and much more relaxed way. Even established Moto 2 riders like Manuel Gonzalez were able to leave some Hero Walks in a casual way without getting besieged by hordes of fans.

Are there any other opportunities to meet the Riders up close in different ways?

Yes! Most Moto GP events offer local fan fests in the major city promoted by the event such as Barcelona, Brno, Florence, …

Secondly, riders usually appear for Interviews in the Fan Zone within the circuit.

Thirdly, specific riders might offer more personal meetups at a local dealership or local sponsor. You basically have to follow them and their team on Social Media to see when an event like this happens. However, this is mostly for specific teams or riders and usually overlaps with other opportunities to see other riders.

Another option is the Paddock access via Two Wheels for life. This will not guarantee a meeting with a rider but gives you a paid opportunity for an exclusive chance and might not be available at every circuit.
